Description
On this project the Grade B+ Victorian Gothic Town Hall with 4-storey clock tower, was fully refurbished & modernised in a sensitive manner to retain historical characteristics. Works included extensive repairs & replacement to external stonework & refurbishment of internal spaces, maintaining as many original features as possible.
We liaised closely with the NIEA & the design team to ensure the Environmental Heritage of the building was maximised whilst providing a building that met current building regulations & DDA requirements.
Works included:
- New 3 storey extension
- Demolition of existing annex
- Extensive cleaning & refurbishment of stonework
- Rebuilding of Clock Tower
- Refurbishment of Clock Mechanism
- Complete M&E & Lift Installation
- Oil & Gas Commissioning
- Provision of new external storage area
- External paving, drainage & associated minor works.
The refurbished building accommodates Main & Minor Halls, Magee Room, Council office facilities & new Public Reading Room & Library. 3 storey extension incorporates Meeting Rooms, kitchen & toilet facilities. Provisions for persons with disabilities include level access entrances, 2 passenger lifts at disabled toilet facilities.
