Our History

1950’s–1960’s | Foundations & Growth

Established in 1952 by brothers Packie and Richard Tracey, Tracey Brothers began delivering civil engineering and public works contracts across Fermanagh and the surrounding region.

  • Key early works included watermain, sewer, road and bridge projects, school builds, and WWTP installations.
  • In 1962, the company moved into a purpose-built head office and joinery workshop at Kilmacormack, Enniskillen.

1970’s | Innovation & Continued Development

The company grew significantly, establishing Tracey Ready Mix, which later evolved into Tracey Concrete Ltd.
It expanded into private development and progressed into larger scale projects and began subcontracting out key packages, completing notable local landmarks:

  • Ireland’s first suspended swimming pool at the Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen
  • The award-winning Enniskillen Model School
  • Numerous government buildings across the western region

1980’s | Healthcare Focus & Regional Expansion

Resultant from the national depression and downturn in local economic opportunities, Tracey Brothers capabilities extended beyond Fermanagh diversifying into the medical sector and taking on more ambitious projects across the Northwest including

  • Altnagelvin Hospital Clusters 1 & 2
  • Erne Hospital Extension (1987)

The company’s strong expertise in healthcare infrastructure continues today.

1990’s | Belfast & Urban Reach

During the 90’s Tracey Brothers completed prestigious urban projects while maintaining a strong regional presence.
Major achievements included:

  • Central Fire Station & HQ, Belfast – RIAI Award Winner
  • Oakwood School & Assessment Centre
  • Passport Office Renovation, Chichester Street
  • Castlewood Housing Development Enniskillen – listed in NHBC top 100 most prestigious private developments in the UK
  • Manufacturing plants, nursing homes, and commercial builds throughout Northern Ireland

2000’s | Modernisation & Sustainable Construction

A transformative period as the company moved to a new head office and warehouse at Drumlyon, Enniskillen. The 00’s saw the birth of Design and Build contracting within the company, along with the implementation of quality management systems and adoption of key industry certifications:

The company achieved Chartered Building Company status. This decade established Tracey Brothers as a leader in Design & Build, with major national and international projects completed:

Managing Director, John Tracey, appointed President of the Construction Employers Federation (CEF), a testament to the reputation, regard and contributions Tracey Brothers have made within the industry.
