An iconic state of the art sporting facility in Clones, Co. Monaghan.
The new complex includes an all-weather multi-purpose pitch, a 400m running track (installed and certified to IAAF standards) surrounding a playing ground, bowling green and cricket creases and perimeter walking trail. Works included the re-location of existing grass GAA Pitch, flood lighting to all pitches and track. A 1600m² recreational hall includes a 600m² Sports Hall, 145m² Gymnasium, 6Nr separate changing rooms with shower rooms for internal and external sports facilities, multi-purpose rooms, referee rooms, storage, administration offices, reception, launderette, internal (& external) public toilets and ancillary accommodation.
Site clearance works included removal of boundary entrance walls, roads, pathways, trees, hedging and relocation of existing electricity poles and infrastructure as well as general earthworks remodelling including an extensive period of monitored surcharging in the area of the new sports facilities.
The works also included the re-location of existing grass GAA Pitch, generator powered flood lighting to all pitches and track, car parking, bus parking and bus drop-off points, roads, footpaths, and general site lighting; re-grading of site to suit the playing surfaces, including treatment of soft ground by surcharging, continuous monitoring of same and disposal of excess material post surcharge period, culverting of an existing surface water stream; new entrance, boundary walls, realignment of grass verges, fencing, extensive landscape planting and all associated site works and services.
The approximate floor area of the new buildings is 1600m² and the total site area is circa 22.8 acres.
